Exhibition "Thinking Pictures" in Kumu Art Museum

The exhibition focuses on the dialogue of the Baltic and Russian conceptual art during the 1970.–1980. In the late Soviet environment of the time, conceptualism meant shifting of the everyday gestures, slogans, narratives, images, objects in a manner that undermined their meaning, reversed it or deconstructed it totally. With this solution, the museum would like to pose questions on the most important events of the modern times and contribute to the discussion of the role of culture in the current situation.

The majority of the works are from the Norton and Nancy Dodge collection at the Zimmerli Art Museum of the Rutgers University (USA, New Jersey).
