Independence Restoration Day (20.08) with the Tallinn Card

On 20 August, the anniversary of the Restoration of the Republic of Estonia is celebrated. Some places are closed due to public holidays. Many museums, attractions, entertainment and dining locations will, however, stay open and visitors are very welcome. Several of these places also offer a special program because of this important day. We hope you will find a lot of exciting things among these options and be able to plan a memorable day.

The Maarjamäe Palace is hosting a castle day and a glass fair for the whole family. It will be possible to participate in exciting workshops and tours. There will be an opportunity to explore and acquire both historical and new glass objects. All exhibitions of the Maarjamäe Palace, the Film Museum and the Stables will be open. The event programme can be found here (in Estonian).

Tallinn TV Tower is also celebrating Independence Restoration Day with a family day. There will be activities for both young and old - shooting ranges, a weapons museum, climbing wall, slack-line, gyroscope and kiiking will all be open. There will also be an armoured vehicle of the Defence League at the TV Tower to see and drive. The event programme can be found here (in Estonian).
Vabamu Museum of Occupations and Freedom will be offering exciting workshops and tours on this day as well. The exhibition "Belarusian Anti-Regime Art" will be open in the KGB Prison CellsSee more here.

On 20 August, Tallinn Botanic Garden will host the popular Tomato Festival and an exciting tour about the Plants of Romania.
